No Sleep ’till Hell’s Kitchen…
Well I stayed up all night and binge watched The Defenders straight through. That was fun. At a brisk 8 episodes I think it tied up the plot lines of the Disney/Marvel/Netflix “street level” superhero universe quite nicely. Punisher is waiting in the wings.
Looking toward to the next big screen Marvel outing, we’re headed back into cosmic, mythical and magical territory on November 3, 2017 with Thor: Ragnarok. Trailers so far are looking good. Planet Hulk, Hela, the Fenris Wolf and the fire giant Sutr. I’m in.
DST Marvel Gallery Dioramas…
Diamond Select Toys shared images of their Marvel Gallery PVC Movie Dioramas with us today. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, the Gladiatorial Hulk, and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie were each sculpted by Rocco Tartamella and follow the 9 inch scale of previous Gallery figures, as well as DST’s popular Femme Fatales series. Full color display window boxes will help show off these premium collectibles. They join the already available Jane Foster Thor. I hope to heck there’s a Hela in the works as well.
You can also expect DST to release articulated figures of these characters and more in the Marvel Select Series in early 2018.
DST Marvel Milestones Series…
In addition to the Gallery series we got an eyeful of Diamond Select’s Marvel Milestones Collection at Toy Fair 2017 this past winter. These are superbly detailed and painted resin show pieces with translucent embellishments.
I love this regal rendition of Thor sculpted by Alterton Bizarre of Art Asylum. The impressive 21 inch hammer spinning Asgardian is currently available, limited to 2,500 pieces worldwide. Each comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Another shelf worthy addition to the DST Milestones series will be Dr. Steven Strange as portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch in the Disney/Marvel film. This figure was sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios, is 20 inches tall, and is limited to 1000 pieces. It’s scheduled to ship in fall 2017. Preorders are being taken now.
