Oh boy, we were already really excited about Mezco Toyz‘ One:12 Mister Spock, but this morning’s communiqué from the land of Mez ups the ante. The company has just announced the addition of George Takei‘s character Mr. Sulu, helmsman of the Starship USS Enterprise, to their line of original 1960’s Star Trek figures. Mr. Hikaru Sulu ultimately captain his own Starfleet ship, the USS Excelsior, in the Trek franchise and Mr. Takei has gone on to distinguish himself with a currently running Broadway play, Allegiance, that assays his time in a United States internment camp during the second world war.
Like the other figures in the One:12 Collective, Mr. Sulu is well articulated with 28 points of movement, affording a huge number of possibilities when on your display shelf. His 5 panel protective box offers easy access and a safe place to keep the slew of additional parts. Star Trek’s classic tech, the phaser, tricorder and communicator are all present in detailed miniature. In a neat nod to series detail Mr. Sulu even comes equipped with a sword so you can emulate events of Trek’s “The Naked Time” episode, apparently Mr. Takei’s favorite of the original series.

Clock Strikes 12…
The One:12 line launched last season with the exceptional Frank Miller inspired Dark Knight Returns Batman. We had the pleasure of reporting on the first unboxing of those beauties, and also a sneak peek of the since released Judge Dredd figure. See the links below for those exclusive images.
It was also a treat to see Mezco reveal pro to-types for future One:12 Collective characters at the 2015 New York ComicCon last fall. Superman, The Flash, an especially awesome looking Space Ghost, as well as their first Universal Monsters figure, the 1931 Frankenstein, were featured.
