Just Another MONSTER MONDAY

Super Impulse, purveyors of the smallest toys in the world, have set their electron microscopes on Mattel’s Monster High doll series. For this second release of tiny versions of Abby Abominable, Skelita Calaveras, and Deuce Gorgon join the already available Frankie Stein, Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura and Ghoulia Yelps

From Star Trek to The Big Lebowski, Rugrats to Power Rangers the Micro Figures legion is already populated by hundreds of the tiniest representations of your favorite pop culture characters.

Each Micro Figure measures approximately one and a quarter inches and includes a display stand. Each comes packaged in its own branded showcase. The cases are outfitted with a convenient backdoor, making between play storage and display of the minuscule collectibles a breeze.

Despite their tiny size Super Impulse Micro Figures have an incredible amount of detail.

Fantastic Toy-age

When I first encountered Super Impulse’s tiny collectibles at various toy industry events I was immediately impressed with just how small the collectibles were and the considerable amount of detail displayed in spite of their size.

They reminded me of the nano-teched  medical submarine of Fantastic Voyage, the mid-1960’s science fiction film, later spoofed in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids films.

The piece that really made me take notice was the working replica of Etch-a-Sketch. The unique Ohio Arts drawing palette was one of my favorite childhood playthings and I spent innumerable hours working the dials to scratch geometric patterns onto its silvered screen.

Each Micro Figure comes in a unique showcase for safe storage between play sessions.

Incredible Shrinking Man…

This journey into the infinitesimal is the brainchild of Alan Dorfman president and co-founder of Super Impulse. Dorfman’s recasting of several generations of beloved toys into miniaturized mementos opened a whole new space in the collector market. His industry game changing innovations were recently recognized by The Toy Association as a People of PlayAward recipient.

For me, the World’s Smallest and Super Impulse products go beyond mere tchotchkes because of their exacting replication of the original product.

Micro Figures are perfect subjects for toy photography fans.

SkeletonPete Says…

As Super Impulse’s range of licenses continues to grow, spanning classic toys and oddball mementos as well as current collector trends, you are likely to find a gift that will bring a smile to friends and family members in any age group.

As we’ve noted in the past, these miniatures can add personalized flavor as stocking stuffers, party favors and Easter basket goodies.

As subjects for my toy photography hobby I’ve found the Micro Figures perfect models for designing & crafting miniature sets around.
