September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and our friends at IAmElemental, makers of the first line of female action figures aimed specifically at young ladies, are sharing the empowering message of COURAGE with a Buy One, Donate One program. During the duration of the month IAmElemental will give one of their Core Power Courage figures to the cause, for every one purchased via their web store.

The 6.5 inch Courage model embodies all the character traits of the 3 inch Series 1 figures that came before it. Think of it as kind of a level “Boss” character containing the attributes of Bravery, Energy, Honesty, Industry, Enthusiasm, Persistence and Fear. The Core Power figure features 30 points of articulation, brandishes its element chart shield and an energy sword, and is outfitted with removable armor and helmet.

IAmElemental Series 2/Wisdom figures will be released this fall.

Julie Kerwin, Chief Elemental Officer, explains the company’s connection to the cause. “Like so much in the IAmElemental universe, our association with childhood cancer comes from our close relationship with our customers. Fourteen-year-old Anna Bosma of Harbor Springs, MI was an IAmElemental superfan – a collector of our Series 1/Courage female action figures who eagerly awaited the release of Series 2/Wisdom this fall. Upon learning from her grandmother that she was unlikely to see their release, we sent her an advance set of our newest figures. Sadly, Anna succumbed this summer after a four-year fight. Our Buy One, Donate One program honors her legacy, and her wish that IAmElemental figures be shared with others.  Anna understood – more than I could ever dream – about Courage and Superpowers and Character.  And it is Anna who continues, every day, to push us and inspire us.  We are so grateful to Anna’s parents, Buck and Heidi Bosma, for allowing us to celebrate Anna’s life this way, and for offering to work with us to bring Courage to children and families like theirs.”

SkeletonPete Says…
Andy Melendez, Ken Pierce, and I have had the pleasure of meeting the creators of the IAmElemental brand at toy industry shows like The Toy Insider’s Sweet Suite and the Toy Industry Association‘s Annual Toy Fair in New York City and watching them build their brand from the early prototypes of Series 1 to filling the shelves of the Mid-Town Comics kiosk last year’s New York Play Fair.

It is no surprise to see them lending their message that “Shared, everyone’s powers grow stronger” to such a worthy cause.
